About Ski Demon
Ski Demon is here to help you choose the right ski resort without needing a PhD in piste maps, lift-pass zones, transfer logistics and suspiciously vague brochure copy.
Think of us as the friend over the fence who has done the homework, read the small print, checked the mountain layout, and will gently tell you when a resort looks gorgeous but might be a faff for your group.
Why Ski Demon exists
Choosing a ski resort can get weirdly complicated, very quickly.
One resort is brilliant for confident intermediates but a bit spicy for nervous beginners. Another has amazing après but the easiest slopes are miles away from where you are staying. One looks cheap until you realise the lift pass, transfers and awkward location have quietly mugged your budget in a side alley.
And then there are mixed-ability groups. First-timers. Snowboarders. Non-skiers. People who want big-mileage days. People who mostly want lunch with a view and a hot chocolate the size of their head.
Ski Demon exists because the ‘best’ resort is rarely just the biggest, highest, prettiest or most famous. The best resort is the one that works for your actual holiday.
No pretending every resort is perfect.
Some places are fantastic for beginners but a bit sleepy for nightlife. Some are brilliant for advanced skiers but not ideal for nervous first-timers. That does not make them bad resorts. It just means they suit different people.
What we help with
Useful answers, not a blizzard of jargon.
We write ski resort guides, comparison articles and planning advice for people who want to know what will actually make or break their trip.
Ability fit
Beginner-friendly, intermediate-friendly, advanced terrain and proper progression - not just vague promises.
Snow & altitude
Snow reliability, resort height, season timing and whether your dates make sense.
Snowboarders
Flat traverses, drag lifts, gondola access and whether riders are likely to spend the week unclipping.
Resort features
Big ski areas, pretty villages, lively après, good value and off-slope options.
Where to stay
Which base works best for access, atmosphere, budget and avoiding faff before first lift.
Non-skiers
Winter walks, scenic lifts, food, spas, village life and whether there is enough to do without skis.
Because a ski holiday is not just skiing. It is boots, buses, lunch stops, lift queues, weather days, tired legs, late drinks, early starts and the occasional heroic pastry.
How we make money
Some links on Ski Demon may be affiliate links. That means if you click through and book or buy something, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.
This helps us keep Ski Demon free to use while still putting time into proper guides, resort research and practical planning content. It does not mean we recommend something just because there is a commission attached. That would be deeply annoying, and frankly, not very Ski Demon.
Our aim is always to help you find the right resort, hotel, holiday or piece of kit for your trip. If something is not a good fit, we would much rather say so than send you skipping into a booking mistake wearing rented boots and false confidence.
The Ski Demon team
Meet the Ski Demon team: real skiers, real resort experience, and just enough strong opinions to be useful.
Michelle is a well-travelled skier with extensive knowledge of both European and North American resorts. Known for her collection of funky and outlandish hats, she is always easy to spot on the slopes. Nicknamed ‘the metronome’, her smooth, steady skiing style is almost as famous as her headwear.
Geoff, aka Super G, has been a devoted skier for well over 45 years. There is barely a resort in France or Austria he has not skied. Still going strong, he tried carvers for the first time in 2011; unsurprisingly, he liked them. Particularly fond of Tiroler Gröstl and Germknödel, he is also very serious about Austrian mountain food.
Dan caught the ski bug late, but has made up for lost time rather impressively. In just eight years, he has already skied many of Europe’s best resorts. A strange fan of tacky resort merchandise, gadgets and souvenirs, he has been known to keep ski shops in business almost single-handedly.
Dave is a newer skier, still learning the ropes and trying to stay mostly upright while doing it. He loves the mountains, après, snacks, scenic chairlift rides and anything that does not involve falling over in front of an audience. Enthusiastic, cheerful and improving fast, he is proof that it is never too late to join the ski chaos.
